The Research Unit for Schizophrenia Epidemiology (RUSE) comprises a multidisciplinary research group located at St Vincent’s Hospital (Darlinghurst, NSW) conducting research that aims to inform the development of novel prevention strategies and clinical treatments for psychotic and related disorders.

The unit brings together researchers with expertise in psychiatric epidemiology, psychiatry and cognitive neuroscience, working with large-scale population data in consultation with government partners, as well as targeted cohorts convened for specific neurobiological and treatment investigations.

Our research projects merge multiple methodological approaches, including prospective population-level longitudinal research and record linkage, molecular genetics and neuroscience, in order to understand the complex interactions between biological and environmental contributions to the development of psychotic disorders.
