Crime and Mental Health Law in New South Wales - Book Launch Nov 2010

Book Launch at Town Hall, 22 November, 2010 for Ass Professor Dan Howard SC and Dr. Bruce Westmore

Clover Moore MP, Lord Mayor of Sydney launched 'Crime and Mental Health Law in New South Wales' (Howard & Westmore) which received a strong endorsement from leaders in the mental health professions.

Justice Greg James (Mental Health Review Tribunal & Law Reform Commission) spoke of the powerful contribution the book made to interpreting mental health legislation to mental health professionals and Mr. Rob Ramjan AM (CEO Schizophrenia Fellowship of NSW Inc) outlined the importance of the book in consolidating the struggle for recognition and funding which mental health issues experienced.

Clover Moore (MP & Lord Mayor of Sydney) drew attention to the statistical information now available on the overwhelming number of people incarcerated in prisons who had experienced mental illness.

A/Prof Dan Howard SC is a lecturer on the MFMH Program in two courses, Law & Mental Health and Psychiatry & the Criminal Law.

The release of the book, 'Crime and Mental Health Law in New South Wales' will provide students with relevant and up-to-date information for research, coursework and day-to-day application in their professional life.

All proceeds from sales of the book are going to the Schizophrenia Fellowship of NSW Inc.
